Seven year old Kristle Merzlock was accidentally pushed into a swimming pool. She was under water for 20 minutes. I had never heard of near death experiences before our team of doctors from Seattle Children's Hospital resuscitated her.
After her recovery I asked her what she remembered about being in the pool. She said: "Do you mean when I was with the Heavenly Father?" |
Video of the Month: A child describes her near death experience. Dr. Morse establishes the timeline of her memories, demonstrates that she loses consciousness while critically ill, but becomes awake and aware right at the point of death. Towards the end she says she is not afraid to die as she knows a bit more about it.

23 out of 27 children who survived near death had near death experiences. One girl told us, after we resuscitated her from cardiac arrest: "I saw my gramma (who was deceased). I was just so shocked to see her." Another said "I was in a huge noodle. Oh, it couldn't have been a noodle because noodles don't have rainbows in them."
Our study showed NDEs are real and not caused by medications, lack of oxygen to the body or hallucinations. For AMA articles click here and here For entire issue Current Problems Pediatrics on hs work on Childrens Near Death Experiences click here |

Our discussion of death experiences has often focused on whether or not they are proof of life after death. However, the true meaning of the near-death experience is what it teaches us about living. Here is a physician describing the most moving NDE of which I am aware. He tells us that this life is to "learn to love like that (the love of his near death experience). Even more important, to learn to accept the love others have for us.
